Disability Information

Trinity College is in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Recognized disabilities which merit accommodation in the academic setting can be related to physical limitations, psychological conditions and learning disorders. The College offers treatment of many psychological disorders in the Counseling Center at no charge as an accommodation to some mental health problems, and students may get some preliminary assessment of learning disabilities in the Center. Complete evaluation for learning disabilities, which is required for the granting of official accommodation, is not done in the Counseling Center, but referrals can be made by the center to qualified professionals in the area if requested.

The Counseling Center is the office responsible for evaluation of documentation submitted with the request for accommodation and for identifying the appropriate accommodations based on the recommendations of the outside professional examiner. It is the policy of the Center to maintain the required atmosphere of confidentiality between a student/patient and a counselor while at the same time allowing students to use the skills of the professionals in the Center to aid them to obtain fruitful accommodations in the academic and residential setting. The procedures  are designed to protect the ability of the Center to offer psychological treatment while also aiding students to obtain accommodations.

The complete procedures are available here on the web site.
