WGRAC - Women & Gender Resource Action Center, located behind the Washington Room on the second floor of Mather Hall, is comprised of two rooms: a study/Lounge/Library area and an office. All are welcome to use the Center for discussion, study, research, informal counseling, meetings and interaction. The Women's Center Lounge can also be reserved for classes or seminars.
The Director of the Women's Center, Laura R. Lockwood, in conjunction with a coordinating committee and the WGRAC student staff, plans, implements, and oversees all WGRAC activities. She educates the campus on issues of women, gender and sexuality through programming, activism, training and advocacy; provides short-term counseling (Laura is a certified sexual assault cousnelor); conducts workshops for the college on sexual harassament & assault prevention & response; makes referrals when needed; and, coordinates SART - Sexual Assault Response Team (see link). In addition, the Director serves as the adviser to PHAB - Promoting Healthy Awareness of the Body; SATF - Sexual Assault Task Force; and, TCBWO -Trinity College Black Women's Organization. Laura also coordinates the Safe Zone Program (see link), which provides safe spaces for the colleges' lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning and intersex community; the "Coming-Out Network;" the WGRAC Reading Group; the Big Sister/Little Sister program (see link); and the WGRAC Lunch Series.
WGRAC welcomes Lauren Donais, as Asssitant to the Director. Lauren is a recent graduate of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, where she majored in Human Development and Family Studies, with a minor in Women' Studies. She studied in Denmark and South Africa, the latter an internship site for work in gender and violence issues. Lauren was a New England Scholar in the Spring and Fall of 2007. Locally, Lauren interned with the state of Connecticut Permanent Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW), where her work includeed evaluating state affirmative action and contract compliance plans, and organizing spreadsheets to display male-to-female ratios onstate-funded construction sites. Lauren will be repsonsible for a number of programs and day to day office functions, and is a certified sexual assault counsleor and a SART member.

WGRAC hours are 9-5pm. However, due to staffing levels, the WGRAC office doors is not always open these hours. Please call 297-2408, or email: Laura.Lockwood@trincoll.edu, to make a time to speak to the Director. Or, stop by and if the doors are open, come on in! :)
