Dean Alford

Frederick Alford was named Dean of Students at Trinity College in July 2003. Former dean of students at Union College, Schenectady, New York, and previously at Hawthorne College in Antrim, New Hampshire, he enjoys more than 20 years of experience in higher education and working with students.

As Trinity’s Dean of Students, Alford leads an office that provides academic support services to students, either through individual sessions or in larger workshops. The office additionally provides students with general counseling, including counseling that addresses personal problems. Additionally, the office works to ensure the observance of College regulations regarding student life. Known as an advocate and supporter of students and their intellectual and personal growth, Alford believes that the future of the College rests, to a great extent, in the hands of the students, and his encouragement of their efforts is influential in making this community stronger.

Alford earned his bachelors degree in psychology at Hawthorne College, a master’s degree in education from Antioch University and his doctorate in education from Harvard University.

Dean Reuman

Ann Reuman came to Trinity in August 1998. She grew up in Maine and attended the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin, Germany for two years as a child while her father served as a Quaker International Affairs Representative. She participated in the Jackson Laboratory Pre-College Program in Bar Harbor, Maine, and returned to Germany as an undergraduate to study at the University of Freiburg before graduating from Williams College, where she double-majored in Philosophy and English. For four years, she taught at T.A.S.I.S. England, an international school just outside of London, where she also served as Assistant Academic Dean and College Counselor and coached the school’s first women’s soccer team. While completing her Ph.D. in English at Tufts University, Dean Reuman taught writing and American literature (most recently, focusing on Native American authors), published and presented articles on multicultural and feminist literature, worked in Residence Life, and for several summers taught at Milton Academy’s Massachusetts Advanced Studies Program. At Trinity, Dean Reuman coordinates several academic support services, advises students on academic planning and learning strategies, and assists with student leadership development.

Christopher Card joined Trinity College in November 1998. A Jamaican native, he studied at Pearson United World College in Canada, studied abroad as an undergraduate at the London School of Economics, earned his B.A. in Economics and International Development at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts, and completed his M.A.L.D. at Tufts University’s Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Prior to joining Trinity, Dean Card worked in Residence Life departments at Clark and Tufts. He has also held various economic consulting positions and has worked as a planning officer for the Government of Jamaica. Apart from the generalist functions that he performs in the Dean of Students Office, Dean Card is responsible for coordinating the non-academic judicial process at the College. He also has oversight of the Greek-letter organizations and serves as advisor to several student organizations, including M.O.C.A. (Men of Color Alliance) and the Gospel Choir. Outside of the office, you may find Dean Card on the rugby field. As a former head coach of a university club, he led his team to two Division III championships. He currently is an active referee in the New England Rugby Referees Society. As one of the Administrators-on-Call, Dean Card also lives on campus.
