Choose a Destination
This is the fun part. Most students use public transportation for getting home or going food or clothes shopping; however Hartford is a culturally vibrant city, with plenty (more than most Trinity students know) to offer. Trinity’s daily e-mail newsletter (Trinity Exchange) and www.hartford.com can be used to keep track of entertainment events (especially over the weekend) and their venues. www.hartford.com can also be used for finding quality bars and restaurants. Below are Trinity Students’ most popular destinations:
Shopping and points of interest:
Downtown Hartford
New Britain Avenue (Westfarms Mall)
West Hartford
Entertainment:
Hartford Arts and Entertainment
Restaurants, bars and clubs:

What’s Your Line?
The Trinity College campus is served by two bus routes (Q,F) that connect to Downtown Hartford, Westfarms Mall in West Hartford and New Britain Town Center. In Downtown Hartford, connections to other CT Transit buses provide access to a variety of retail and employment centers, entertainment venues, Union Station (bus and train station) and Bradley International Airport. To figure out your line obtain a Hartford Bus Map from the U-Pass resource display
in Mather Hall
or view online. Furthermore, if yours is a major destination it may be listed on the front of its respective bus schedule which will also be in Mather Hall. If you can’t figure out what line to take to get to your destination, you can either get help at the Mather information desk, Joe Barber (Office of Community Service, lower lever Mather), or call CTTRANSIT Customer Service at 525-9181.
Where?
Bus stops are marked with official bus stop signs. The Q line runs down New Britain Avenue stopping near the Alchemy Juice Bar and Summit Street. The F line runs down Broad Street stopping near the Broad/New Britain Intersection and the Broad/Vernon Intersection. Both lines run downtown on the farther-from- campus side of the street. To view a map of Trinity’s shuttle and bus stops click here.
When?
Bus schedules are available in the U-Pass display in Mather Hall and online. For detailed instructions on reading the schedules click here.
Riding The Bus
Boarding:
When boarding the bus, show the driver your student ID and insert the pass, with the arrow on the front pointing forward, into the pass reading machine on the fare-box. The fare-box will “beep” to indicate your pass has been accepted.
Exiting:
About one block from your destination, pull the chord above the side windows or press the yellow touch tape near the wheelchair seating area to signal the bus operator to stop. A chime will alert the operator to stop and a “stop requested” sign at the front of the bus will light up.
Getting Back
To return to Trinity College catch the same line that you used to get to your destination but in the reverse direction. If you took the F2 bus downtown, you can simply take the F2 bus uptown when you wish to return. The schedule for your return bus is contained in the same bus-line pamphlet.
