Practice Interviews

Want to be sure to ace that first big job interview?

The best advice we can offer you at Trinity College Career Services is that practice makes perfect. Trinity Alumni/ae are available to ask you the tough questions you will face in the real situation. Don’t get caught off-guard by a question that could mean the difference between an offer and a rejection.

Visit, email (career-services@trincoll.edu), or call our office at ext. 2080 to arrange a time slot for a practice interview with an alumnus/a on April 15th and 16th, 2008. All students are welcome to attend. The interviews will run from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at half hour intervals on for both evenings.

Register NOW to ensure that you get the slot most convenient for you because time slots are limited! You must bring a blank videotape with you if you choose to have your interview taped, dress in professional business attire, and email us with a copy of your resume to career-services@trincoll.edu by April 10th, 2008.

Students who do NOT submit their resume by April 10th forfeit their time slot!

A practice interview can be invaluable as you prepare for a summer job, academic internship or entry-level job interview. This is an opportunity for you to develop and strengthen your interviewing skills in a risk-free setting.  Trinity alumni/ae and local business leaders serve as “interviewers” during these half-hour sessions.  The typical practice interview consists of 20 minutes of Q&A followed by a 5-10 minute debriefing of your performance.

You should dress as you would for a real interview, and you should bring several copies of your resume. We encourage you to also bring a blank videotape so that your interview can be taped. You will receive a written evaluation from the interviewer, and, just like with a “real” interview, a thank you note to the person who interviewed you is the final step.

There is no limit on the number of practice interviews. You can do as many as you would like. Watch Trinity Recruiting for upcoming dates or contact Career Services at career-services@trincoll.edu or 860.297.2080.
