Networking Opportunities

Attend Networking Receptions

Interested in meeting other alums or sharing your career-related experiences with students?  Join us at one of our many networking events throughout the year.  These receptions, held in conjunction with the Alumni Clubs, provide opportunities for students to practice the fine-art of networking while giving alumni/ae the chance to mingle and expand their own networking base with other alumni/ae. Watch for details about upcoming events in your area or contact Career Serivces at career-services@trincoll.edu or 860.297.2080 for more information.

On-Campus Networking Events
Alums are invited to campus for networking luncheons, receptions and dinners throughout the year. We cluster these events around career topics and during these events you and other alums will discuss your career path, offer advice to those interested in the field and answer questions from students. These gatherings not only help students gain a better understanding of the expectations and the day-to-day realities of their prospective career choices and a greater knowledge of how to best position themselves, but also provide students with valuable contacts within the alumni network.

Career Panels
Moderated by students, career panels consist of five or six alums representing a particular career field or field of study. The panelists are asked to describe their own career path and offer any advice to students interested in entering the field. After the presentations, panelists answer questions from the audience. In the past, topics have included:

  • The Health Professions
  • Law
  • Non-Profits
  • Finance
  • Sales & Marketing
  • Education
  • Consulting
  • Engineering
  • and many more!

Tours of Your Organization
The best way for students to learn more about different companies and organizations is to visit them in person. Whether hosting groups of students or individuals, alums can help give students an excellent introduction to their company or organization. If you are interested in providing a tour of your organizations, please contact career-services@trincoll.edu or 860.297.2080.

Shadowing
The best way for students to learn more about particular jobs is to spend time with individuals or alums currently in those jobs. By hosting a student and allowing him or her to spend time with you at your place of employment, attending meetings with you, meeting your colleagues and asking questions, you are helping students gain a more realistic expectations about the day-to-day aspects of your job. If you are interested in hosting a student for a day, please contact career-services@trincoll.edu or 860.297.2080.

Informational Interviews
Trinity students will contact you to schedule an appointment to conduct informational interviews to learn more about your profession, career path, your organization and how Trinity prepared you. In addition to individual student interviews, we conduct Alumni Career Profiles on the Web thereby making your experiences and insights more accessible to all students and fellow Trinity Alumni/ae. If you are interested in participating, please click here to complete the Alumni Career Profile. If you are interested in providing information interviews to students and fellow alums, please contact Career Services at career-services@trincoll.edu or 860.297.2080.
