Campus Agreement for Students

Trinity College has an agreement with Microsoft that allows students to install the software on their personal computer that they have brought to Trinity for use in their studies; when purchasing a computer you no longer have to buy software for word processing, editing web pages, making spreadsheets and creating databases.

Submitting work electronically is easier with standardized, up to date software; if your computer is not currently equipped with Microsoft Word, we encourage you to take advantage of this offer.

What's available?

Our agreement with Microsoft allows students to install the following software on the computers that they have at school:

  • Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate (upgrade only)
  • Microsoft Office 2007
  • Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2007 (replacing FrontPage)
  • Microsoft Visual Studio Pro 2005
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Edition for Windows
    • Access
    • Excel
    • OutlookPower
    • PowerPoint
    • Publisher
    • Word
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2003
  • Microsoft Office 2004 (Macintosh Edition)
    • Entourage
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
    • Word

How do I get it?

Sign out a CD from the Information Technology Center. You can pick it up at the Help Desk (LITC level B at the base of the grand stairwell) and it will be yours to keep. You will be given a temporary installation key that will allow you to install the product on up to 2 computers and run it up to 50 times. To get a confirmation number, which will allow you to run the software indefinitely, you will be required to register with Microsoft. Instructions on how to register permanently will appear when you launch the application installer. You will ONLY be able to fully register on two computers.

What about upgrading my operating system?

In order to upgrade your operating system to Windows Vista Ultimate you MUST currently have a valid version of Windows installed on your computer.

Before performing an upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate, PLEASE go through the required checklist of hardware specifications that are needed to run Vista at optimal performance (the checklist is on the other side of the sign-out sheet).

What happens when I graduate/leave Trinity?

Students graduating from Trinity can keep the software installed on their machine if our license is still in effect when they leave. At the time of graduation, the Student License will convert to a perpetual license (meaning, you own the Software) as verified in you License Confirmation. This document is proof of Software ownderswhip.

What do I, the student, agree to by installing the Microsoft Software?

When picking up CD's from LITC you will be asked to confirm that you have read the Microsoft Licensing Agreement and will adhere to it's requirements. By installing any of the software by any of the above means you are agreeing to the license which can be found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/education/license/terms.asp.

Miscellaneous Notes:

This license agreement covers the academic year until June 30th, 2008. The College's license agreement with Microsoft is subject to change, and you will be expected to comply with any such changes or to remove the software from your machine.

Faculty and Staff interested in obtaining software for their home machines should read the information at:

/depts/cc/TechnicalServices/CampusAgreement.htm

and follow the directions.
