The visit consisted of a tour of the newsroom, the news desk, and the offices of the Hartford Courant, which shares a building with Fox61. At the end of their tour, the group gathered in the conference room and Cody spoke about her career path in the field of communications.
Cami Fitzgerald ’19, a member of the American Association of University Women Connecticut Student Advisory Council, said she was “fascinated to see what the newsroom looked like” on her March 8 visit. Fitzgerald, who has an interest in media and advertising, was able to sit behind the anchor desk and try her hand at giving a weather forecast to get a feel for broadcasting.
The WLC was founded in 2010 by the alumnae trustees of Trinity College in efforts to support and strengthen the alumnae network and bring together alumnae and undergraduate women. The Council has three goals: build a community and strengthen connections between all Trinity women on an alumnae-alumnae level and an alumnae-student level; promote opportunities for engagement and leadership amongst Trinity women; and encourage philanthropy to Trinity from alumnae.
Melissa Bronzino Regan ’87, associate director of alumni relations at Trinity College, said, “The Women’s Leadership Council sponsors a variety of activities with the idea of engaging women alumnae and students, including these insider tours, whenever possible.”
