Borealis String Trio and Carillonneur Darren Zhu Kick Off Series on Wednesday, July 5

Hartford, Connecticut, June 19, 2017 – Trinity College will host the 68th annual Plumb Memorial Carillon Concerts and the 43rd annual Chamber Music Series as a part of its 2017 Summer Music Series. The series will run weekly on Wednesdays throughout the summer, rain or shine, starting on July 5. The Summer Music Series is free and open to the public. Parking will be available on Summit Street and Vernon Street. The Chamber Music Series will run from July 5 to 26. It will take place in the Trinity College Chapel at 6:00 p.m. The Carillon concerts will run from July 5 to August 9 and will take place at 7:00 p.m. on the Main Quad, which is beside the Chapel.

For the performances on July 5, the Chamber series will kick off first at 6:00 p.m. with the Borealis String Trio. They will be playing pieces by Bach, Dohnányi, and Beethoven. Violinist Judith Lee, who is based in Boston, regularly plays with orchestras throughout New England, including the Boston Pops. Violist Lu Sun Friedman made her debut at age 17 with the San Francisco Symphony, and one of the symphonies she plays in is the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Cellist Anne Berry is both a performer, having played with pianist Rodrigo Queiroz last year in Brazil and Massachusetts, and a music instructor, currently teaching Chamber Music at Trinity.

Later that night will be a Carillon performance by Darren Zhu, who co-founded a biotech company in California, and was a member of the Yale Guild of Carillonneurs.
