To the Faculty and Staff of Trinity College:
On July 15, 2012, John P. Fracasso will join the senior administration as Vice President for College Advancement, when Ronald A. Joyce, who has served with great distinction in this important post since 2005, moves on to his next professional chapter in Maine. Jack has had extensive experience at Yale, where he has been the Director of Principal Gifts for the past several years; at Duke, where he was Director of Principal Gifts; at Brown, where he was Executive Director of Major Gifts and Regional Development; and at the University of Maryland, where he served as Director of Development for the Maryland School of Public Policy and International Affairs. Prior to these appointments, Jack held various positions at the University of Maryland as the Director of International Alumni Programs and at Brandeis, where he was an Assistant Director and Communications Specialist in their Office of Admission. Jack spent his undergraduate years at Brown where he received an AB in English, at the University of California at Davis where he received an MA in Rhetoric and Communication, and at the University of Maryland where he completed all but his dissertation requirements for a PhD in education-policy studies. He has been active in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education for many years.
I wish to acknowledge the hard work of our search committee (trustees Cornie Thornburgh, Nina Diefenbach, Jeff Kelter, Peter Lawrence, our Dean of Multicultural Affairs Karla Spurlock-Evans, and the Raether Distinguished Professor of Art History, alumnus Alden Gordon) as well as the diligence of Vice President for Finance and Operations Paul Mutone, who staffed the search over the course of the last several months.
Jack will begin working on his transition into this vice presidency prior to Ron’s departure from his post on June 30, 2012.
Yours very truly,
James F. Jones, Jr.
President and Trinity College
