Hartford, Conn. - The Widener Gallery will feature new work by the Trinity College studio arts faculty, in an exhibition free and open to the public. An opening reception will take place, Tuesday, September 17, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., and the exhibition will run until October 25, 2013. The opening reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
The Faculty Exhibition will feature work by Joseph Byrne, professor of fine arts; Pablo Delano, professor of fine arts; Devin Dougherty, visiting assistant professor of fine arts; Susan Finnegan, visiting assistant professor of InterArts, studio arts; Steffani Jemison; visiting assistant professor of fine arts; Nathan Margalit, visiting associate professor of fine arts; Scott Reeds, visiting associate professor of fine arts; and Patricia Tillman, associate professor of fine arts.
“We’re all active artists, regularly showing our work in other places, but this is the first time since I’ve been here (2000) that we are collectively showing our work at Trinity,” Byrne said. “It’s great for camaraderie among the faculty, it’s great to share our work with the Trinity and Hartford community, but most importantly, it’s great for our students to see our work in a professional setting.”
"Our hope is that students, our colleagues on the faculty, and the community at large will get a sense of the broad spectrum of art being produced here, from painting to sculpture to video art" said Pablo Delano, director of the Studio Arts program and chair of the Fine Arts Department.
“People who teach arts at Trinity are also practicing artists, doing work right along with their teaching,” Byrne added. “Our students are learning from artists who are professional artists themselves, and we are making this clear in an immediate and close way.”
