Students Invited to Participate in Conversation About Plans for 200 Constitution Plaza Facility

Two April 9 Forums Provide Opportunity for Students to Learn About Planning Process and Offer Their Ideas

Hartford, CT, April 8, 2015 – The planning process by which the College will determine the optimal uses for its recently acquired facility in downtown Hartford, 200 Constitution Plaza, is still in early stages and an important part of that process is engaging members of the campus community in the discussion. Toward that end, two student forums are scheduled for Thursday, April 9 – one in Vernon Social from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. and the second in McCook Auditorium from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. (pizza will be served at the 12:15 forum).

As with similar forums for faculty and staff members in March, the student discussions will be led by two consultants with backgrounds in urban and institutional planning in higher education settings who have been engaged to assist in the planning process: Rachel G. Bratt, a professor of urban and environmental policy and planning, emerita, from Tufts University, and Catherine Donaher, an accomplished consultant in real estate development and master planning.

As President Joanne Berger-Sweeney shared in a February 19 letter to the campus community, the acquisition of 200 Constitution Plaza provides an opportunity to “enhance the overall educational experience at Trinity by expanding our programming opportunities and providing an additional focal point for further integration with the Hartford community.”

As part of the community planning process, an online forum also has been created, offering another way for individuals to share input or feedback on plans for 200 Constitution Plaza.
