FuelCell Energy Announces Agreement to Install Fuel Cell on Trinity’s Campus

New Power Plant Will Lower Carbon Emissions and Save on Energy Costs

Hartford, Connecticut, May 23, 2017 – FuelCell Energy has announced its agreement with Trinity to install a 1.4 megawatt fuel cell power plant on campus, to generate both electricity and steam, which will result in lower carbon emissions as well as cost savings. The fuel cell plant will enable Trinity to achieve a 39 percent reduction in CO2, to decrease fuel consumption by 35 percent, and to reduce annual energy costs. The fuel cell is to be installed adjacent to Ferris Lane on the south side of Ferris Athletic Center and a timetable for the project will be shared once available.

“Trinity is committed to enhancing environmental awareness, responsibility, and sustainability throughout our College community and this on-site fuel cell power solution is a first step,” said Dan Hitchell, vice president for finance and operations.
