Slide Show: Trinity College Chapel Community Hosts Second Annual Chapel Formal Dinner

Fundraising Event Encourages Trinity Community to Help Local Elementary School Students Who Face Weekends with No Food

Hartford, Connecticut, October 1, 2015 – The Trinity College Chapel community hosted its second annual Chapel Formal Dinner on Friday, September 25. The Chapel Formal was a benefit dinner to raise awareness about Hands on Hartford’s Backpack Nutrition Program, which provides 305 backpacks of food per week to Hartford children experiencing food insecurity.  Of these, Trinity College supplies 40 of the backpacks, and this effort on campus is coordinated by the Charleston House and Project PACKS at a cost of approximately $150 per week.

At the dinner, students were encouraged to pledge their support. The Backpack Nutrition Program only operates through the collaboration and support of individuals, student organizations, academic departments, athletic teams, programs, and offices across campus. In addition to the three-course dinner, the evening also featured performances by The African Choir, The Accidentals, and The Chapel Singers.
