Trinity Presents Carrie: The Musical at Austin Arts Center This Weekend

Musical Based on Stephen King Novel Directed and Choreographed by Erik Bloomquist ’14

Hartford, CT, March 3, 2015 – Carrie is well known to many as a novel by Stephen King and a classic film. This weekend, the story of a high school misfit in Maine, will be seen by a new audience in the first production of Carrie: The Musical by a college in Connecticut. The musical, presented by Trinity’s Department of Music will be staged at the Austin Arts Center’s Goodwin Theater on March 5, 6, and 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Carrie: The Musical features a book by Lawrence D. Cohen, who wrote the 1976 film; music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore; and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford. The musical is directed and choreographed by Erik Bloomquist ’14, who recently performed in the Hartford Stage productions of Hamlet and Ether Dome.

The cast is made up of Caroline Cannon ’18 as Carrie, with Kristan Bertschmann ’15, Preston Carey ’15, Diana Zee Chandler ’18, Lydia Haynes ’18, Luke Hickox ’16, Adelaide Jenkins ’18, Ebban Maeda ’16, Henry Minot ’17, Gregory Ochiagha ’18, Maggie Powderly ’18, Rae Rossetti ’16, Aysha Salam ’18, and Michael Ruby, a senior at the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.
