Trinity Hosts Open House for Capitol Squash Students and Supporters

Innovative Program Provides Hartford Children with Athletic and Academic Enrichment

Hartford, CT, February 9, 2015 – On Tuesday, February 3, Trinity hosted an open house for Capitol Squash, an exciting program based at the College that provides children from Hartford’s M.D. Fox Elementary School with both athletic and academic enrichment. Among the program’s volunteers are Trinity scholar-athletes, including the NESCAC champion men’s and women’s squash teams. In attendance at the open house were Joanne Berger-Sweeney, President and Trinity College Professor of Neuroscience; Paul Assaiante, head coach of the men’s squash team; Wendy Bartlett, head coach of the women’s squash team; Meg Taylor, executive director of Capitol Squash; and other supporters of the program. Both Assaiante and Bartlett are also members of the Capitol Squash board of directors. The program was recently featured on the Trinity Athletics website and in The Hartford Courant.
