1000 Friends of Connecticut is a statewide organization whose mission is to promote and shape growth to ensure a prosperous economy, a healthy natural environment, and distinctive, integrated and attractive communities while promoting opportunities in education, housing, transportation, and employment for ourselves and future generations.

 

Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOQ) - www.crcog.org

CRCOQ is a voluntary association of municipal governments serving the City of Hartford and 28 surrounding communities. Its members have collaborated for more than 30 years on a wide range of projects to benefit our towns individually and the region as a whole.

 

Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) - www.crec.org

Cooperative organization which advocates public education. Its mission is to work with boards of education of the Capitol Region to improve the quality of public education for all learners.

 

Charter Oak Cultural Center - www.charteroakcenter.org

The Charter Oak Cultural Center, long an arts showcase for Hartford's diverse communities, offers multicultural arts and education programming in its restored landmark building, Connecticut's first synagogue.

 

Greater Hartford Arts Council - www.letsgoarts.org

The Greater Hartford Arts Council supports and promotes Greater Hartford’s cultural assets and enlivens the life of our CapitalCity. Through its United Arts Campaign and professional technical assistance programs, the Arts Council occupies a unique role in Greater Hartford’s civic life by providing value-added support and services. 

 

Hartford Areas Rally Together - www.hartnet.org/hart

HART is the oldest existing community organizing group in New England, representing neighborhoods on the south side of Hartford. Its mission is to empower residents and organizations of Hartford to effectively address neighborhood issues.

 

Institute for Community Research (ICR) - www.incommunityresearch.org

ICR was founded in 1987 as a non-profit research institute to develop research partnerships and conduct applied and action research with communities and organizations in New England and beyond. It uses the tools of research to build community capacity and foster collaborative community-based partnerships.

 

Leadership Greater Hartford - www.leadershipgh.org

Leqdership Greater Hartford brings together and trains a diverse array of community minded leaders addressing key issues.  This organization encourages and prepares diverse people to address common in our community.

 

The MetroHartford Alliance - www.metrohartford.com

Founded in 2001, the MetroHartford Alliance united the business expertise of the MetroHartford Chamber of Commerce and the economic development leadership of MetroHartford Economic Growth Council to form the region's lead business and economic development organization.

 

Park River Watershed Revitalization Initiative - www.parkriver.org

The Park River Watershed Revitalization Initiative is a diverse ad hoc network of citizen activists, engineers, design professionals, government and non-profit advisors who are working for healthy communities. Its focus, the Park River watershed, represents the challenge of protecting and improving nature within a high-density urban environment.

 

World Affairs Council Connecticut (WACCT) - www.ctwac.org

The World Affairs Council of Connecticut (WACCT) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization promoting greater understanding of global ideas and issues. WACCT sponsors panel discussions, seminars, business luncheons, and a series of internationally renowned speakers on international politics, business and culture. Founded in 1924, the World Affairs Council of Connecticut is a proud member of the World Affairs Councils of America - the largest nonprofit international affairs organization in the United States.
