International Students and Scholars
International Students and Scholars (ISS) provides assistance to current and prospective members of Trinity's diverse international community. In addition to Trinity's dynamic corps of international scholars who enrich the college through teaching and research, the student population includes 101 undergraduates from nearly 40 countries across the globe, including Bangladesh. Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Cyprus, Egypt, El Salvador, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Jamaica, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Lebanon, Malawi, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Burma (Myanmar), Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. In fall 2008, Trinity enrolled the largest cohort of international students in its history--33 of them from 20 countries--for the class of 2012.

ISS is a multi-faceted resource: it assists students and scholars with immigration matters; it acts as a liason with sponsoring agencies and foreign governments; and it helps strengthen the bonds between Trinity's international students and scholars, domestic students, and the communities of greater Hartford and across the world.

The entire Trinity community has been transformed by the contributions made by international scholars through research and teaching, and more international students are choosing the college as their destination for undergraduate studies than ever before. In this sense, International Students and Scholars seeks to do everything it can to help make Trinity a truly "Global Village." Our international students and scholars have given the campus a vibrancy that is reflected in the classroom and in the culture. And to encourage multicultural awareness through the interaction with international students, the ISS, in conjunction with the International Student Association and the I-House Group, coordinates and organizes various programs and activities. Some of these services include:
- Providing counseling for international students and scholars regarding personal and procedural issues pertaining to immigration, visa acquisition, academic advising, and events coordination.
- Informing foreign students and scholars about changes in immigration regulations and about upcoming international events via email and through Trinity Exchange, the college's daily newsletter.
- Holding workshops to assist students and scholars make whatever adjustments they may deem necessary to maximize their Trinity Experienece; the ISO is also a resource that provides post-graduate career planning, assistance with tax preparation and other logistical challenges.
- Supporting and facilitating activiities with international and cultural groups such as the International Student Association and the I-House Group.
- Organizing and holding orientation programs for new students
