Connecting On and Off Campus
Wired and wireless network access is available throughout the Trinity campus. Faculty, staff and students can also connect to Trinity's network from off-campus through a Virtual Private Network connection to access restricted resources such as library databases. Instructions for VPN are available for Windows 7 and Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS 10.6+ and Mac OS 10.5.
Purchasing a Computer for Use at Trinity
Students purchasing a computer should make sure it meets our minimum hardware specifications to ensure the best access to Trinity's IT resources. For laptops, an appropriate locking mechanism is strongly encouraged.
Faculty and staff who wish to purchase a computer using departmental funds should begin the process by contacting the helpdesk. Staff will assist in the selection of appropriately configured equipment that can be supported.
Trinity has a variety of equipment available to borrow.
Trinity has discounted Microsoft software for sale and virus scanning software available for use on personally owned computers. Supported software and help guides are listed. See what software is available in computer labs and classrooms and standard software provided on office computers.
There are computer labs available, including ones in the library open 24x7 when classes are in session. You can also learn more about what lab software is available in these spaces. ITS also provides student technology assistants which give students and faculty access to multimedia and design software and one-on-one consultations.
File Storage and Backup
It's important to back up your files regularly to avoid a major data loss. The tamba file share and SharePoint web sites are used for departmental file storage.
A variety of training options are available. You may also request training for yourself or for a group. We also have online documentation for Windows and Macs and phone guides. If you are new to Trinity, please review our getting started guides.
