Fines and Fees

Overdue Fines/Lost Items

Regular Circulating Collections

Students will be notified if any items are overdue. If any item is more than 40 days overdue, the item will be declared lost. The borrowing patron will incur a replacement fee (minimum of $50) and a non-refundable processing fee of $35.

If the item is returned in good condition within 6 months of the date it was declared lost, we will waive or issue a credit for the replacement fee. The student will be responsible for the $35 processing fee.

Recalled Items

Failure to return any recalled item by its updated due date will result in the suspension of all borrowing privileges until the item is returned. Overdue recalled books incur a fine of $7.00/day to a $70 maximum.

Course Reserve and Short-Term Loans

Course Reserve items or other Short-Term loan items (such as electronic equipment, chargers, etc.) not returned by the designated day and time are fined at the rate of $5/hour to a maximum of $25.

Claiming an item returned

Once an overdue notice has been issued, a borrower has 14 days to make an appeal if they feel that there has been a mistake. The Library will search for any item claimed returned, and ask that the student search on their end as well.  If the item is found, it will be removed from the student’s account, but any non-refundable fines will remain. The Library reserves the right to bill the student for any items not found.
