The Long Walk Societies were formed in 1992 as a way to show the College’s appreciation for leadership gifts to Trinity College. In 2005, the Societies were updated to reflect the outstanding levels of giving reached by donors to Trinity. Members of the Societies are recognized for their leadership philanthropy, are invited to annual events, and receive special communications from President Jones and other members of the College staff.
Gifts at the Long Walk Societies levels accounted for 80 percent of the 2011 Trinity College Fund and approximately 88 percent of overall giving to Trinity in fiscal year 2011.
The philanthropy of members of the Long Walk Societies touches virtually every aspect of the Trinity experience, from scholarships to faculty development to student internships. Each year, more than eight percent of the College’s operating budget comes from gifts to the Trinity Fund, led by donors to the Long Walk Societies.

Help Trinity Earn a $2-Million Bonus...
The Trinity College Challengers have promised a $2-million bonus if the Long Walk Societies reach a total membership of 1,200 donors by June 30, 2012!
Meet the Trinity College Challengers One of the most important ways to ensure Trinity’s ongoing success is by increasing the number of members in the Long Walk Societies (LWS). This year, our goal is to reach total LWS membership of 1,200 by June 30.* Providing incentives for increased leadership support is important. That’s why we need your help in spreading word of the $2-million bonus promised by the Trinity College Challengers if we meet our membership goal. Please help us seize this opportunity—If you are not a current member, please join us! And if you are a LWS member, please encourage your Trinity friends to join.
* Last year (Fiscal Year 2010-2011), the LWS reached a total membership of 981.
