Skills     Credits in early childhood education and enrollment in an early childhood education program (Preschool); experience working with school-age children; knowledge of State of CT Licensing regulations, National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) standards and National Afterschool Association (NAA) standards; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; statement of good health and negative results of a negative TB test within past 6 months; the ability to hear the conversational voice with or without a hearing aid; the ability to see with or without corrective lenses; the ability to speak and be understood in normal circumstances; the ability to lift and carry children or items weighing up to 50 lbs; the ability to use arms, legs, hands and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job including evacuation of the building during emergencies; the ability to bend walk or stand for long periods of time

Responsibilities     Assist the Head and Lead Teacher in all operations of the classroom/site including: the creation and maintenance of an environment that is safe, organized and appropriate and meets licensing and NAEYC/NAA Standards. The creation and implementation and assessment of age appropriate curriculum plans that meets the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of children. The maintenance of all required classroom/site records (attendance, meal counts, sign in sheets, etc.) The creation and implementation of systems to keep families connected and informed on children's progress and the classroom/site.
