Selected for Verification?

What does it mean?

If your FAFSA application is selected for Verification, Trinity College is required to collect documentation to check the accuracy of information provided on your FAFSA.

How do I complete Verification?

There are two options you can use to satisfy Verification. The first and most efficient option is the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, which allows you to electronically transfer your IRS data into your FAFSA. The second option is to request a Tax Return Transcript from the IRS. Detailed instructions to complete each method can be accessed by clicking the links below.

The Financial Aid Office may require you to complete additional Verification documentation (i.e. Verification Worksheet), which should be submitted to the office directly. Check your Financial Aid Status account to determine if these other Verification documents are needed.

What is the deadline to complete Verification?

The deadlines, which vary according to term of enrollment, are as follows:

November 1 for students who begin enrollment in fall term
March 1 ​for students who begin enrollment in spring term
July 1 ​for students who begin enrollment in summer term

 What happens if I don't complete Verification?

All required documentation must be submitted by the appropriate deadline or your federal financial aid will be cancelled.
