Summer Tour Guides

Ariana Adamski

Westfield, MA
Class of 2017
ariana.adamski@trincoll.edu
High school: Holyoke Catholic High School
Major: Neuroscience
Favorite class taken at Trinity: Latin American Novels with Professor Goldman
Favorite professor at Trinity: Professor Brindle
Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity initially for the small class sizes and the passionate professors. Coming previously from a large university, I was delighted to find that professors were willing to meet with me right away, easing me through my transfer semester. I was able to find a position in a research lab that I plan to be involved in until I graduate with my own thesis project. I felt welcomed by so many people and I have been given wonderful opportunities since I have matriculated, and I feel prepared both academically and professionally for life beyond college. I have no regrets about my choice in attending Trinity.
Extracurricular activities: AMSA, Active Minds, WGRAC, PHAB, Health Education Board, yoga instructor (in Fall 2015)
What I love most about Trinity: While there are many things that I love about this place, I love how Trinity doesn’t feel as if it is located right in the middle of a city. So many urban campuses are often designed with spread out buildings, giving a concrete-jungle feel. However, Trinity manages to defy this with its gothic architecture and the quads that span campus. For me, the green space is calming and beautiful to wake up to, or to walk through on my way to a class. It provides a space for friends to take a study break, catch some fresh air, and it contributes to an overall positive atmosphere on campus.
Professional goals/career plans: Medical School, become a neurosurgeon, use my skills to give back to a wider community through Doctors Without Borders

Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because I wanted a school that was going to provide a lot of different opportunities and challenges and at the same time one I wouldn’t feel lost in. I liked the size of the school but also the size of the classes because it allowed me to get to know my professors and build a relationship with them.
Extracurricular activities: President of Model UN, Tour Guide
What I love most about Trinity: Trinity has an impressive range of opportunities and that’s the thing I love the most about the school. It doesn’t really matter what field you are interested in, the school is going to find something that fits you.
Professional goals/career plans:  I want to be a political science professor.

MacKenzie Levy

Portsmouth, NH
Class of 2018

High school: Berwick Academy
Major: Undeclared (Most likely English Creative Writing, Film Studies, and Theater and Dance)
Favorite class taken at Trinity: “Intro to Literary Studies” & “Basic Filmmaking”
Favorite professor at Trinity: Professors Mitch Polin, Chloe Wheatley, & Clare Rossini
Why I chose Trinity: I eventually decided to choose Trinity because I went to an incredibly small high school, and therefore was used to small class sizes and one-on-one student-teacher relationships. After touring, I got the sense that the education that I would receive at Trinity would help me to grow intellectually and, so far, this theory has been exceptionally accurate.
Extracurricular activities: The Big Sister Little Sister Mentoring Program, The Trinity Tripod, Trinity College Photography Club
What I love most about Trinity: I love the fact that I can walk around Trinity’s campus and run into several people that I know, while also seeing several students whom I’ve never met. I also like how the professors here are very accommodating, and they are willing to meet with students whenever they need help or need guidance of any sort. The Trinity community is incredibly supportive, and Trinity fosters a type of environment that encourages students to succeed not only regarding academics, but also concerning extracurricular activities as well.
Professional goals/career plans: Ideally, I want to work in either the magazine industry or the film industry.

Why I chose Trinity: I came from a small high school where the classroom size was small. This was something I wanted as a part of my college experience so that I could have a strong relationship with my professors and engage in classroom discussions rather than being a number in a lecture hall. Additionally, Trinity was one of the few liberal arts colleges that offered a neuroscience major.  Furthermore, upon visiting campus, I felt it was a welcoming community. I was able to see students walking with each other to and from classes enjoying each other’s company outside the classroom. Finally, I also had the opportunity to continue playing two sports at the varsity level in the NESCAC, an extremely competitive division III conference that also emphasizes the importance of academics.
Extracurricular activities: Trinity College Women’s Soccer and Basketball teams, teaching assistant
What I love most about Trinity: I am able expand my horizons; I learn something new about someone or something every day. I feel that Trinity is a very friendly and welcoming community that encourages students to explore a variety of opportunities in and around campus with a diverse group of students. I also find myself constantly admiring our gorgeous campus as well as our great location in Hartford. I am able to take advantage of the surrounding amenities such as the Hartford Hospital for internships, West Hartford to enjoy some local stores, downtown Hartford to grab a bite to eat with friends, or the opportunity to get off campus for a weekend to visit New York or Boston.
