Molly L. Dince
Brooklyn, NY

High school: Saint Ann’s School
Major: English Literature
Minor: French Studies
Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity for many of the same reasons as most anyone who attends a small, Liberal Arts college. I was looking for small classes, exceptional academics, a writing-intensive curriculum, an intimate student body and a beautiful campus. But then there were the numerous ways in which Trinity is unique that made my choice so easy: its location in the historical city of Hartford and all the opportunities which that allows for, its close proximity to major, Northeastern cities and its notoriety as a fun and social school with an energetic, engaged and fascinating student body.
Favorite class taken at Trinity: English 405: Intersections in American Literature
Favorite professor at Trinity: Professor Samuel Kassow
Extracurricular activities: Writing Associate, ConnectiKids Program, Literature Club, Kappa Kappa Gamma
What I love most about Trinity: I love the general environment at Trinity. Here I have found that students are able to balance a rigorous academic life with extracurricular activities that fulfill their diverse interests and a fun, active social life. There are also numerous times throughout the year when the entire student body comes together for events such as Homecoming and Spring Weekend when it’s hard for me to imagine anyone choosing another school over Trinity.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: Undecided but considering a Masters Degree in English or Journalism and a career in Magazine or Book Publishing.

Mary Ebraheem
Queens, NY

High School: Bayside High School
Major: Double major in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics
Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because it offered an accredited engineering program within a liberal arts environment. Also another main factor was the faculty to student ratio. It was important for me to know that I will have individual attention from professors and have the opportunity for the professors to really know who I am not just be a name within a huge lecture hall.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: I have taken a couple I have enjoyed and for different reasons. However if I had to chose just one it would be Indian Dance, I am fascinated by the Indian culture and I love to learn new dances. But this class exceeded my expectations of purely learning just the cultural khatrak dancing. The professor brought a body, mind, and soul component to the class with focus on yoga and a historical component as well.
Favorite Professor at Trinity: Professor Wyshinski
Extracurricular Activities: President of Theta Delta Sigma Multicultural Society Inc, President of Society of Women Engineers, Vice President and co founder of Arab American Association
What I love most about Trinity: I love that Trinity is an environment where you literally have endless options, whether it be extracurricular or choosing courses, you can chose what you enjoy. Also, if there is something you think Trinity is lacking or can do to improve the opportunity also exists for you to start something new.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: I am not positively sure but am highly considering graduate school or an engineering industry position, whichever comes first.

Stephanie Glover
Chicago, IL

High School: Lincoln Park High School
Major: Public Policy and Law
Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity for a variety of reasons; the factors which influenced me were academic, social, and financial. Academically, I knew I wanted to go to a small school because I found that I learned best in small classes where I had contact with the teacher. I then knew that I wanted to continue that kind of learning experience into college; Trinity offered the perfect complement of small classes and contact with professors.  Socially, I also wanted a small school because I haven’t always been the most outgoing and I wanted a smaller setting so that I wouldn’t get lost in a big crowd. Finally, after I was accepted, I found out I would be getting an amazing scholarship which also provides summer stipends for internships—this pretty much sealed the deal.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: The best class I’ve taken at Trinity would be “Women’s Rights as Human Rights” with Professor Janet Bauer. It was the first 300 level class I took and I was pretty nervous, but I found the class  really interesting and I learned a lot about the subject and about myself. The best part of the class was that we got to work on a semester long project for which we came up with a human rights issue we cared about and looked at the topic from different perspectives with regards to evaluating rights. Ultimately, we had to write a paper which included an advocacy proposal which forced us to put the theory of rights into a practical approach; this assignment forced me to think more about my own ideas around activism and how to put theory into practice.
Favorite Professor at Trinity: Luckily, I’ve had lots of great professors, which makes it hard to say who my favorite is. In the Political Science, I’ve really loved the classes I’ve taken with Professor Kevin McMahon who helped to situate current political events within the context of the American political system. Along that same route, Professor Lou Masur’s class encouraged me to connect societal changes with legal decisions and rulings. These two professors, along with many others, expanded my academic understanding and challenged me to think in new ways.
Extracurricular Activities: Fred Pfeil Community Project, Feminists United, Zeta Omega Eta, Feminist Reading Group
What I love most about Trinity : I love the depth of student involvement in all areas of the college (from admissions to teaching classes). Trinity really values and appreciates the fact the students make Trinity what it is;  the college tries to incorporate their input into all decision making processes. Additionally, Trinity really encourages students to take up their own causes, you don’t always have to be invited to share your thoughts with the school—the administration is really willing to talk and work with you on any issues you think need to be changed or could be better. This makes me feel like I have a real role in creating my educational environment.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: I don’t know exactly where the future will take me, but I’m pretty sure law school is in my future. There are a couple directions I might go with this, I’m really interested in doing policy advocacy work, hopefully for a women’s group; I’m also generally interested in politics, and I would love to work on campaigns and in the offices of elected officials.

Danae L. Goldberg
Scarsdale, NY

High School: Edgemont High School
Major: Psychology
Minor: Literature and Psychology
Why I chose Trinity: Trinity was amongst my top three schools and stuck out to me as the unique choice for my college. It was close enough to home that I could go home if I chose to, but yet far enough away that I truly felt on my own. Trinity also had an amazing campus and student body that I felt at home here even when I visited and that feeling has yet to escape me after three years here.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: It is difficult to choose just one favorite class here at Trin as I have made it a choice to not take a class here that I did not find, on some level, interesting to me. However, that being said I have a few that have stuck out over the years. Clinical Psychology with Prof. lee really secured to me that I chose the right major with psychology. Also, Existentialism with Prof. Vogt is a class that I will never forget. He made me evaluate the way I thought about life and it changed the way I approach life now.
Favorite Professor at Trinity: Again, a difficult choice as so many of my professors at Trinity have been amazing, as many of the professors have gone the farthest they can in his or her field, allowing some amazing minds to shape my education. Yet, some can relate to the student body better than others. My advisor, Prof. Lee, though, has been the most influential professor I have had at Trinity.
Extracurricular Activities: Rising Stars and VAMP mentoring programs, International Programs Office, Trinity Tripod writer/copy editor, SAA
What I love most about Trinity: It is difficult to pinpoint what I love most about Trinity as it has so many attributes. The campus is gorgeous-both in the winter and summer months. The student body is warm and welcoming, which is important in a school as small at Trinity. The community is dynamic and always reminds you as an individual that we can all make a difference and should not be sheltered in our small bubble on campus from the reality of the outside world. The alumni connections that remain long after graduation just go to show how deep friendships, both close and acquaintance, continue to make lasting impressions.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: At this point in my life, I have so many interests that I could and eventually plan to pursue. Ultimately, though, I want to make a difference in the world. Whether that is via being a psychologist, working in the marketing field, becoming a journalist, or some other option only time will tell.

Molly Goodwin
Providence, RI

High School: Lincoln School
Major: American Studies
Minor: Writing and Rhetoric
Why I chose Trinity: I decided to apply Early Decision to Trinity after my first visit in the spring of my junior year of high school. After attending an all girls’ school for many years, I was attracted to the 50/50 men to women ratio that is unusual for a liberal arts school. I was excited by the fact that over 90% of students live on campus even though the school is in an urban environment. While I was unsure of what I wanted to major in, I knew I didn’t want to be bogged down with lots of general distribution and course requirements. Most importantly, I knew I wanted a small school with a strong sense of community and spirit, and immediately sensed that Trinity was the place for me.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: American Domestic Interior with Professor Dangremond
Favorite Professor at Trinity: It’s a tie between Scott Tang and Beverly Wall
Extracurricular Activities: Class of 2009 Secretary, Hillel, FACES, and Writing Associate
What I love most about Trinity: My favorite part of Trinity is the campus-wide events held throughout the academic year. On Homecoming and 80s night for example, the entire campus comes together to show school spirit and have fun. I will always look back on my memories of these events as highlights of my college experience.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: I’m interested in working for Hillel’s national office after graduation and hope to study Jewish communal service in graduate school.

Allison Horrocks
West Greenwich, RI

High School: St. Mary Academy Bay View

Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because I wanted to attend a college in a urban area but I also wanted to have the experience of a small liberal arts institution as well. I also immediately felt that the campus was a perfect fit for me.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: Women in America
Favorite Professor at Trinity: Professor Elukin
Extracurricular Activities: The Fred Pfeil Community Project, Peter’s Retreat, the Big Sister program
What I love most about Trinity: The professors at Trinity are incredibly dedicated to their respective subject matters and perhaps even more importantly, to their students.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: I plan on attending graduate school to continue my education in the field of American history.

Dan Hoyle
Ansonia, CT

High School: Ansonia High School
Major: Political Science
Minor: Religion
Why I chose Trinity: I am the third of four siblings to attend Trinity and we have each had our own unique experience at this wonderful institution. What we have all agreed on is that there are few schools that provide as much individual attention and care for its students as Trinity does. The small class sizes allow each person to truly know their professors and peers. Coming from a small high school, the size of the student body was also a feature that I found very attractive. Our beautiful campus and excellent academic record “sealed the deal” for me and I applied Early Decision 1.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: It is impossible for me to list only one class. My favorite classes include my First-Year Seminar; “Loyalty and Liberty: the Literature of Moral Decision Making,” “Urban Politics,” “American Popular Music,” and “Indian and Islamic Painting.”
Favorite Professor at Trinity: The ability to interact directly with your professors at Trinity has allowed me the opportunity to get to know several professors incredibly well. Some of my absolute favorites include my major advisor, Stefanie Chambers (Political Science), my minor advisor, Ellison Findly (Religion), Music Professor Gail Woldu, and Writing Professor Cindy Butos. (I served as a student mentor to Professor Woldu’s First-Year Seminar “Billie [Holiday], Elvis [Presley], and TuPac [Shakur]”in Fall of 2007  and will be serving as a student mentor in Professor Butos’ seminar on “Writers in Hartford” Fall of 2008)
Extracurricular Activities: 2009 Class President, Trinity College Activities Council; Music and Entertainment Chair, Relay for Life Co-Chair, PRAXIS Coordinator, First-Year Mentor, Honor Council, Research Assistant to Professor Chambers, Friends Active in Civic Engagement and Service (FACES), Habitat for Humanity, Themed Housing, Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE)
What I love most about Trinity: There are several things I love about this school. At Trinity, you are able to meet people very quickly and dive into clubs and activities that you are passionate about right away. My liberal arts education has allowed me to take classes in subjects that I had known nothing about previous to college. The course curriculum offers students the ability to entertain their intellectual curiosities and explore topics from all different areas. For instance, last semester I was enrolled in a course on Islamic Painting and another on Elvis Presley! I have studied art at Trinity’s Rome Campus and international politics in London, while interning with the Labour Party. As you have already seen (or will see), our campus is beautiful and its location in Hartford provides several internship and community service opportunities. Trinity is an ideal location for motivated students to make the most of their college years.
Professional Goals/ Career Plans: I am currently studying in London and am researching any / all opportunities that would bring me back here! I intend on enrolling in business school after college and possibly pursuing a career in marketing / PR / political fundraising.

Aileen McBride
Guangzhou, China

High School: The American International School of Guangzhou (AISG)
Major: International Studies
Minor: Italian Studies
Why I chose Trinity: The small class sizes were important to me as well as the availability of professors. I had taken summer classes at larger universities where professors were not accessible outside of class time and it was awful! In addition, coming from an international background made me appreciate Trinity's extensive study abroad program.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: Food in Italian History
Favorite Professor at Trinity: Not a Trinity professor per se, Jan Gadeyne teaches at the Trinity College Rome Campus.
Extracurricular Activities: Tour Guide, Equestrian Team, the Trinity Tripod, the International Students' Services Association, Green Campus, ConnPIRG, Peter B's Cafe Barista What I love most about Trinity: It's a gorgeous campus in the middle of a capitol city!

Matt Milner
Tucson, AZ

High School: St. Gregory College Preparatory School
Major:  Philosophy
Why I chose Trinity: Whenever people ask me that question I have two answers. The first is the answer I’m supposed to give. I wanted to go to a small liberal arts college, and Trinity seemed to be an ideal fit. The truth, though, is that the one thing that really hooked me when I visited Trinity was an experience I had in The Cave (no, not a chicken and cheese). I visited over the summer before my senior year of high school, so the campus was relatively quiet. A few stray students and professors. When my dad and I popped into The Cave for a quick lunch, we were enthusiastically greeted by Al. I had just finished taking an admissions tour, but I was still lukewarm on the school. I loved the campus, but I didn’t feel like I had a sense for the community. The five minutes Al talked to me while waiting for my sandwich made me feel more comfortable than any tour or brochure could have. This one trivial encounter was engrained in my memory when decision time approached in the following spring. I felt like any community that someone like Al would rave about was worth taking a chance on.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity:  Freud (Erik Vogt) or Planetary History (Vijay Prashad)
Favorite Professor at Trinity: Drew Hyland, Erik Vogt, and Vijay Prashad
Extracurricular Activities:  Cinestudio, WRTC, Fred Pfeil Community Project, Interventions: An Undergraduate Journal of Culture, Politics, and Theory
What I love most about Trinity: It is remarkably easy to take charge of your own experience. When I’ve felt a void a Trinity, without exception I’ve found a way to try to fill it, thanks to the support of other students, professors, and administrators.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: Keeping my sanity.

Alison Moore
Avon, CT

High School: Avon High School
Major: English
Minor: None, although I did participate in the InterArts Gateway program during my freshman and sophomore years.
Why I chose Trinity: I chose Trinity because it was a small college where I knew I would be able to receive a great amount of  attention from professors, and would be able to build personal relationships with them. I loved the beautiful campus, and the fact that because of the distribution requirement system, I had lots of freedom in deciding what classes I wanted to take and what I wanted my schedule to look like.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: “The Contemporary Novel: Fantastic Realities” with Francisco Goldman. I rediscovered my love of reading and was able to learn about and discuss novels written by authors  from all around the world.
Favorite Professor at Trinity: I’m quite fond of Dirk Kuyk in the English Department, and Jan Gadeyne from Trinity’s Rome Campus is excellent.
Extracurricular Activities: In my three years so far, I have been a tour guide, a first year mentor, and participated in a Gateway program, theater, and a literary magazine, the Slate.
What I love most about Trinity: I love that I have so much control over the road I choose to take academically, but that there are always professors and advisors there to give me help if I need it.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: I hope to work for a publishing company, perhaps concentrating on children’s literature.

Samantha Moorin
Fairfield, CT

High School:  Fairfield Warde High School
Major:  Music and Educational Studies
Why I chose Trinity:  I chose Trinity because I knew it was a place where I could pursue my passion for theatre without limiting myself to that one field.  One of Trinity’s greatest attributes is the range of academic freedom it offers to students.  Also I knew I wanted to go to a small school where I would get a lot of personal attention, and Trinity is the right place for that.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity:  My favorite class at Trinity was the Interarts seminar.  This is an honors first year seminar that combines all aspects of the arts over the course of four semesters.  Through this class, I was able to collaborate with other arts-oriented students, many of who turned out to be my closest friends.  I was given opportunities to perform, create, watch, and even help teach arts of all kinds.  Not to mention that I had a lot of fun.
Favorite Professor at Trinity:  My favorite professor is Gerald Moshell.  Interestingly enough, I’ve never taken a class with him.  Instead, he has directed all the shows I’ve been in at Trinity, along with the Concert Choir which I have been a part of.  The type of relationship students have with him is one that we call him Gerry, not Professor Moshell, because it is a closer bond than those of a typical teacher-student relationship.  Gerry works incredibly hard to put on amazing productions, sometimes four full-fledged musicals in one year.  He makes sure that everyone who wants to participate has a chance to perform, starting with the first semester you are here.  My time at Trinity would have been very different if it wasn’t for Gerry and his musical theatre program, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Extracurricular Activities:  I am involved in many different activities on campus.  I participate in all the musical theatre productions on campus.  I am also a member of the Chapel Singers.  I live in the community service themed dorm on campus, Praxis.  Through this, my continuing service project is working for Dream Camp, a mentoring program that pairs you with children from the Hartford Area.  Before becoming a Student Admissions Associate, I worked for the admissions office as a tour guide.  I am also part of the Alumni Ambassador program.
What I love most about Trinity:  I love that Trinity is a small school with a beautiful campus.  There is nothing I enjoy more than walking out to the main quad on a nice day, and seeing people that I know everywhere around me.  I love the tradition of the school with events such as homecoming and matriculation.  Because of this environment I have made the best friends that I could ever ask for, and I know that these relationships will last me a lifetime.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: My true dream is to one day be on Broadway.  But if that doesn’t work out, I think about going to grad school to become a child psychiatrist or possibly working in education administration.

Sarah Muir
Portland, ME

High School: Portland High School
Major: International Studies, Peace and Conflict track
Minor: Spanish Language
Why I chose Trinity: Trinity is the perfect combination of all that I need in a college.  I knew that I wanted a liberal arts school with a community feel.  This is exactly what I found here, and I knew Trinity was the right match for me the minute I came to visit.  I like its small size and appreciate that I interact with many of the same students every day.  To me Trinity was the best of both worlds: the small campus I was looking for in the middle of a city.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: Even though I’m an International and Spanish Language Major I’ve had great experiences taking classes outside of my core requirements.  In the spring of my freshman year I took Samuel Kassow’s World War II class and loved it.  It was the first challenging History class that I’ve really enjoyed, and I loved the way Prof. Kassow’s lectures were all from memory.  He is a professor who loves what the material he teaches, and this enthusiasm shows.
Favorite Professor at Trinity: Vijay Prashad.  He is my advisor and one of the smartest professors I’ve ever encountered.  He has written eleven books and is the Vice Chair of the Center for Third World Organizing.  I don’t know how he has time to come to class, but his passion inside the classroom is unbeatable.
Extracurricular Activities: Trinity Pipes co-ed A Cappella group, ACES (Annual Community Event Staff,) Tour guide, “Tributes” Mentoring Program
What I love most about Trinity: Trinity is a community.  I am always surrounded by fascinating people inside and out of the classroom.  It’s small enough to be a close-knit community and large enough to be new and exciting even as a junior.
Professional Goals/Career Plans: I’m looking for internships in Marketing and Media Planning, and I hope to intern this summer before thinking about Grad. School after College.

Extracurricular Activities: Co-Chairman Alumni Ambassadors, Student Admissions Associate, Chartwells Student Manager, former member of the Student Budget Committee, and former Varsity Football player
What I love most about Trinity: I enjoy the close relationships that I have developed with professors and students in a small learning environment. This is important because no matter what you do in life communication and interpersonal relationships are of the utmost importance.

Griha Singla
Ellicott City, MD

High School: Centennial High School
Major: Public Policy & Law
Minor: French, Spanish
Why I chose Trinity: Trinity offers an incredible and unusual major that suited my interests: Public Policy & Law.
Favorite Class Taken at Trinity: My favorite class at Trinity has been Law, Argument, and Public Policy.  It was taught by a professor who has practiced law his entire adult life and yet, still maintains incredible enthusiasm for the subject.  The class not only challenged me, but also helped me become a better student.
Favorite Professor at Trinity: I have to give two answers.  The first is the professor of the class mentioned above, Professor Ned Cabot.  The second is my advisor, Professor Adrienne Fulco.
Extracurricular Activities: I have been Staff Writer, Announcements Editor, and Arts Editor for the Trinity Tripod.  I have also been a part of the Fred Pfeil Community, served on the Honor Council, sang in the Concert Choir, and been a tour guide.

Matthew J. Wrzesniewsky
Rahway, NJ

High school: Rahway High School
Major: American Studies
Why I chose Trinity: It was a gloomy New England November day when I first saw Trinity.  My first visit to the school as a high school senior was unforgettable.  I knew that Trinity was the place for me when I first stepped through the Downes Memorial Arch and gazed upon the venerable quadrangle. Beneath the remarkable splendor of Trinity’s collegiate gothic structures, I discovered a small tight-knit community located in the heart of a city.  I also found a great school with an incredible academic reputation and a distinguished faculty devoted to teaching. At the time my goal was to attend a small liberal arts school, and Trinity fit the caricature that I had imagined.
Favorite class taken at Trinity: The Emergence of the Modern Mind with President Jones
Favorite professor at Trinity: Professor Louis Masur (American Studies)
Extracurricular activities: The Trinity College Accidentals, Chapel Singers, Student Government Association, Honor Council, Alumni Ambassadors
What I love most about Trinity: There are many aspects of Trinity that I love. One specific aspect is Trinity’s remarkable study abroad opportunities. Last spring, Trinity enabled me to study abroad at its Paris, France, site. I studied French language and French culture while living in the heart of the Latin Quarter in Paris. Living and studying in Paris was sublime. It was both a challenging and enlightening experience that will remain with me forever.
The definitive characteristic to love about Trinity is its size. The small college environment affords many opportunities for students to directly collaborate with professors and students alike. At Trinity, students are known by their professors by their name and not by numbers which may be common at large universities. Additionally, the professors at Trinity are remarkable teachers who are devoted to education. This is true within the administration, too, for even President Jones teaches a class. Last fall, I enrolled in his senior seminar about the Enlightenment called The Emergence of the Modern Mind. Consequently, I have developed a great relationship with President Jones. Despite his obvious busy schedule he always left his door open to students first. I took every advantage of this while taking President Jones’ seminar, and met with him to work on my writing, and develop topics for the many papers that were assigned.
Professional goals/career plans: Upon graduation I would like to work on Wall Street and follow up with my internship at the Bank of New York Mellon.  My long-term life goal is to return to graduate school and pursue a PhD in American Studies to teach one day at a small liberal arts college like Trinity.
