Stroll through Bushnell Park

Centrally located in downtown Hartford, Bushnell Park was the first public park in the United States. Aside from many events year round, the park also features a fully restored, wooden carousel from 1914 with a Wurlitzer 153 band organ which is open year-round except for February and March. During the winter months, the park is transformed into a winter wonderland for Winterfest which brings free public ice skating to the city.

Goodwin Park not only contains an 18-hole golf course, but hosts a holiday lights show each year during the months of November-January. Park visitors can enjoy tennis and basketball courts, a softball field and trails for walking, biking and running.
 

Enjoy live music at Elizabeth Park

Over one hundred acres of formal gardens (a rose garden that goes into full bloom each June), green space, recreational facilities, walking loops and the Pond House Café, Elizabeth Park is a great place to take a break outdoors. Many free events take place at the park year round: summer concert series, yoga at the park, movies under the moonlight series, and more!
 

Take in the view at the Mortenson Riverfront Plaza

The Mortenson Riverfront Plaza is located in downtown Hartford and is directly on the Connecticut River. Many performances and festivals are hosted here. Visitors also use the steps of the plaza for exercise as well as taking in the views of the river. Each year, the Dragon Boat & Asian Festival takes place on the river, and the plaza provides a great view of the boats.
