Timing is most critical in the financial aid process. Trinity will meet the calculated need of all financial aid applicants whose files are complete by the deadline. To complete your file by our deadline, you need to adhere to the following:

1: Admissions Application
Indicate on your application that you wish to be considered for financial aid. It is too late to apply for Trinity grant assistance after you have been admitted. Late applicants may, however, apply for federal aid assistance.

2: CSS Profile Application
Complete your CSS Profile online. You will need to first register with CSS to obtain an application. Registration begins early in the fall. To register call toll-free at 1-800-778-6888 or visit the College Board website at
http://profileonline.collegeboard.com/index.jsp.

Trinity’s CSS school code number is 3899. If you have not completed current-year federal tax returns prior to completing the Profile, list estimated income on the application. Do not miss the February 1 mailing deadline because current-year tax returns are not available. Do not send photocopies of tax returns to CSS. Be sure to keep a copy of your Profile for your records.

3: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Submit your completed FAFSA to the federal aid processor. FAFSA applications are available at your high school or apply online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov.  Trinity’s Title IV school code number is 001414. Use estimated current-year income figures if your tax returns are not completed at the time of your application. Do not send photocopies with your FAFSA and be sure to keep a copy for your records.

4: Required Documents
Send all of the following, if applicable, to Trinity’s Financial Aid Office:

Trinity requires all aid applicants to submit two years of parents’ and student’s federal tax returns and W2 Statements. Include copies of all schedules. Be sure that the returns are signed. Write the student’s name and social security number on all pages.

Note that there are different deadlines for the required tax returns. Therefore be sure to check the deadlines page for correct submission dates. Please do not send State income tax returns.

  • Noncustodial Parent’s (NCP) Profile
CSS will e-mail students information about the NCP Profile. Trinity requires that all noncustodial parents complete the NCP Profile and submit copies of their prior and current year federal tax returns.
  • Business/Farm Supplement
Required by Trinity if your parents are partners in or own their own business. All business tax returns, for income not reported on Schedule C of their personal tax return, are also required.
  • Other documents
Trinity will contact you directly if additional documents are required. Financial aid awards are calculated for one year only. Each year you will need to reapply for financial aid by our published spring deadline. Your aid award will be recalculated each year, based on current income, assets, family circumstances and the current need analysis methodologies and regulations. In addition, you must continue to make satisfactory academic progress toward your degree.
