Trinity College offers a free course open to area residents who are at least 17 years old.  The program is co-sponsored by Trinity College and the Connecticut Humanities Council. The goal of the 24-week Gateway Program is to remove financial barriers and create a bridge to enrollment in all forms of higher education for low-income residents.  Tuition, books, and bus fare will be provided at no cost.

In order to participate, residents must meet the federal low-income guidelines; must be able to read and understand a newspaper in English and it is helpful for the individual to have completed high school.  Course participants study the great ideas and masterpieces of literature and poetry; philosophy; painting, sculpture, and architecture; and American history, while receiving instruction in writing.  Students who meet course requirements will receive college credit.

The Gateway to the Humanities Program will begin September 24th and will meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. through April 16th.
