The First-Year Program at Trinity College is designed to integrate the academic and community life of first-year students. The program includes first-year seminars which are designed to train students to write, discuss, and think critically.

In the seminars, students explore an intellectually challenging topic with 14-15 of their classmates. Seminar instructors serve as the academic adviser to seminar participants until they declare a major, usually in the fourth semester at Trinity.

An upperclass peer mentor supports the students in each seminar, providing general academic assistance, including writing, computing, and advising support in the classroom and residence hall. Beyond the classroom, the First-Year Program introduces students to the academic resources of the College and the Hartford community.

For more detailed information for first-year students, visit the starting out section of the site.
