AGENCY FUNCTION: Trinfo.Café is a friendly place in the neighborhood that provides free computer access to Hartford-area residents and teaches basic computer literacy classes and tutorials on Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. We offer a variety of computer classes for children, including after-school and summer programming for students aged 7-17. We also reserve the lab on weekday afternoons for children to complete their homework on computers, under the supervision of Trinity students.
INTERN ACTIVITIES: Interns are needed in the following areas:
Workshop instructor intern – will provide instruction to students in keyboarding, intro to computers, web-based email and the web. Classes are offered in English, Spanish and Somali and taught at the café or in the community. Proficiency in Spanish is helpful but not required;
Curriculum development/instructor intern – will work with the curriculum/workshop coordinator to develop new workshops/curricula for community organizations which are taught in small or full groups;
Web development/instruction intern – will develop/update/refine training manuals for use by individuals with various levels of expertise;
Theme-based curriculum intern – will serve as teaching assistant in a special curriculum track whose subjects include media literacy, digital storytelling, financial literacy, health & wellness, the debt industry, consumerism, and ecology.
