AGENCY FUNCTION: The Secretary of the State of Connecticut is one of six elected
constitutional officers responsible for overseeing a number of government
functions through several divisions (Management and Support Services,
Legislative and Elections Administration, Commercial Recording, and Executive Offices).
INTERN ACTIVITIES: Interns report directly to either a division manager or a
designated internship coordinator and may receive project-specific supervision
from other professional staff. Interns receive practical training in the
application of theories/concepts relevant to the work of this constitutional
office, assist professional staff, create business letters/memos, contact
constituents by phone, letter or email, assist in planning activities/events,
establish contact with officials or business professionals, interact with staff
from various divisions of SOTS, research issues of
importance to the office, prepare/log materials for
archives, and perform other duties as needed. Interns must have some knowledge
of government, history, business and/or the law, possess excellent
interpersonal/communication skills and basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
