AGENCY FUNCTION: CARC is a statewide coalition of organizations that provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS in CT. We strive to: Educate the public on HIV/AIDS related issues, encourage cooperation among HIV/AIDS organizations, positively influence government policies related to HIV/AIDS issues, improve the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS, empower people living with HIV/AIDS through leadership training. CARC envisions a future in which all people living with HIV/AIDS can live in dignity, and the AIDS epidemic has ended.
INTERN ACTIVITIES:
Development intern will assist the Development Director in
fundraising events including Art for AIDS Oscar Experience, WE CAN (Women End
the Course of AIDS Now) and AIDS Walk/Run. The Development intern will work
with the Development Director to implement outreach strategies to help secure
donations, sponsorships and to increase event participation. Additional
responsibilities may include volunteer organizing, helping with social media
promotions and assisting with development and execution of the contribution
generating strategies needed to advance the mission, programs and goals of
CARC.
Policy intern will work closely with the Public Policy
Director to assist with coordinating CT’s HIV/AIDS public policy and advocacy
activities on the state and federal levels. Intern will assist the Public
Policy Director as needed with the development, implementation and oversight of
CARC’s public policy initiatives. Tasks may include assisting the Director in
developing materials for informing and educating legislators, helping with
trainings on “how to” engage in advocacy and assisting the director with
working with legislators, composing and distributing advocacy alerts and
information to members and other advocates. The intern will see in action and participate
in the working of policy makers as they collaborate with our agency in the form
of World AIDS Day, Legislature breakfasts and may attend meetings at the
LOB/State Capitol.
Case Management Training intern will assist the Training
Coordinator with several training areas such as planning, research projects, and
analytical processing. All trainings are appropriately tracked and recorded for
future reporting. The trainings are held twice per month and the target audience
are medical and housing case managers who work directly with clients living
with the HIV/AIDS virus. Research for effectiveness of training is conducted
via surveys and on a monthly basis statistics and percentages are made
available regarding each training.
