Institute for the Study of Secularism in Society and Culture
 

Terence Tastard is a Catholic priest of Westminster diocese, in London, England.  He is a graduate of Rhodes University South Africa (History and Politics), King’s College University of London (Theology), Birmingham University (Philosophy of Religion) and the University of Hertfordshire (History).  Before ordination he taught philosophy of religion in King’s College and Birkbeck College of the University of London. More recently he has been visiting lecturer in the history of spirituality at Westminster Diocesan Seminary.

 

He is the author of The Spark in the Soul:  Spirituality and Social Justice (DLT, London, 1989) published in the US by Paulist Press in 1990 as The Spark in the Soul:  Four Mystics on Justice.  He has contributed to other books, notably a 10,000 word chapter on theology and spirituality in Leslie Houlden and Peter Byrne (eds) The Companion Encylcopedia of Theology (London:  Routledge, 1990).  He has written articles in America, New Blackfriars, the Church Times, Catholic Herald, The Franciscan, and  Spirituality.  With Professor Lyndal Roper he made a two-part broadcast on BBC Radio Four about the spirituality in the poetry of T. S. Eliot in 1992. 

 

Fr Terry is now pastor of a busy multi-ethnic parish in inner London.
