AGENCY FUNCTION:  SINA is a coalition of three major institutions in the south side of Hartford:  Hartford Hospital, Trinity College and CT Children's Medical Center.  The purpose of SINA is to comprehensively improve the neighborhoods surrounding these institutions.

 

INTERN ACTIVITIES:  SINA is engaged in many activities in the neighborhood, some of which lend themselves to internships, e.g. housing rehabilitation, neighborhood improvements, urban planning and educational programs for youth. Interns may participate in a variety of projects with staff, neighborhood residents and community organizations. Some projects are:

Housing: Research and field work – updating neighborhood housing stock information; identifying properties needing attention; assisting with development and work of new homeowners’ association;

Community Safety: Research and field work – coordinating and conducting public safety forum;

Economic Development: Research and field work – updating and collecting institutional purchasing information.
