AGENCY FUNCTION: An independent statewide organization that works to reduce poverty and strengthen families and communities through advocacy supported by outreach, research and education. CAHS works to ensure that all children and families have resources and public policy support to become economically self-sufficient, and to ensure that those who cannot achieve self-sufficiency have access to basic needs, including nutrition, education and health care.

 

INTERN ACTIVITIES: Assist with secondary research, policy analysis, report compilation, literature review, testimony, and legislative meetings. Provide support for statewide coalitions working on policies to move low-income families toward self-sufficiency, including tax credits, child care, health care, food security, and education and training. Help with even and campaign planning and execution. Opportunity to work on a single, long-term project from start to finish, or to have several short-term assignments.
