AGENCY FUNCTION: Clean Water Action (CWA) is a non-profit environmental organization that works to educate, empower, and activate citizens to better protect the environment and public health.
INTERN ACTIVITIES: Time is generally distributed between citizen outreach, research, writing, creation of materials/presentations, database entry, media tracking, clerical and other duties as needed.
Variety of projects - will attempt to match intern's interests and skills. Our current campaigns include working with coalitions of groups to help curb global warming, reduce diesel pollution, support
clean energy generation, and promote comprehensive reform of toxic chemical policy.
Interns will help strengthen these campaigns by: developing relationships with CWA activists in key communities, preparing educational materials, representing CWA at tabling events and
environmental fairs, contacting interested groups to join the coalitions we coordinate, educating the public about availability of clean electricity options, updating our web page, tracking media coverage of issues, working with local activists to pass town resolutions, and writing letters to the editor.
Intern should have a strong commitment to public health and the environment, strong oral and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently and learn quickly.
HOURS PER WEEK: 10 or more (more hours enable intern to work on more projects in greater depth)
