AGENCY:         CHILDREN IN PLACEMENT

Superior Court - Juvenile Matters

AGENCY FUNCTION:  Advocacy agency monitors cases of children involved in Juvenile Court abuse and neglect proceedings, as well as Probate Court matters involving custodial issues, providing follow-up until the child is home or permanently placed.  Recruits/trains/supervises community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (or CASA’s). INTERN ACTIVITIES:  Participate in hearings on neglect cases; attend pre-trial conferences; follow up by telephone with third party contacts; write occasional reports for court/attorneys; keep court informed of case progress; assist Program Coordinator with recruitment, case work and volunteer contact. NOTE: Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
