Vision and Mission Statements
Trinity College is committed to enhancing environmental awareness, responsibility, and sustainability throughout the College community. The principles of environmental sustainability are central to all College activities, and by integrating these principles into all aspects of its operations, planning, and policy, Trinity enhances its role as a leader in liberal arts education within the greater community.
Trinity College will strive to produce students, faculty and staff who are environmentally literate citizens of the Earth and whose actions adhere to principles of environmental sustainability. Trinity shall set an example of responsible environmental stewardship through its ongoing commitment to incorporate sustainable practices into its daily decision-making processes and support resource conservation, reduction of waste and pollution, recycling, minimizing our environmental footprint, and investing in the local community.
In order to realize this mission, Trinity College will endeavor to:
Reduce consumption of natural resources including food, energy, and water
Establish and enforce environmentally sustainable practices and procedures for designing, constructing, and maintaining buildings and grounds
Reduce the use of toxic substances
Promote the use of renewable, reusable, recyclable, and recycled materials
Reduce waste and increase recycling
Buy locally and conduct business in a way that takes into account all appropriate economic, environmental, and social concerns
Safeguard environmental health and safety on campus and in the surrounding community
Integrate sustainability components into the curriculum
