The Central Energy Plant is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the campus steam plant and the steam distribution system. The steam generation facilities supply steam for heating, absorption air conditioning, hot water, and other uses. The Central Energy Plant also directs the annual switch from heating to cooling.

The central plant is staffed around the clock 365 days per year by operators licensed through the state who monitor, adjust and repair all the necessary equipment required to maintain the safe and reliable process of supplying high pressure steam to the campus.

Construction Trades is responsible for structural repairs and alterations to College buildings including interior painting, window repair & replacement, roofing, and general carpentry work. Exterior painting for College buildings is done on a cyclical schedule and as needed.

The Custodial Shop is responsible for cleaning services for the College's academic, administrative, and residential buildings. It provides cleaning of offices, lavatories, classrooms, and common areas. In addition they are responsible for replacing window shades, light bulbs, furniture moves and set-ups for concerts, lectures, dances and other campus activities on a reimbursable basis. Questions regarding custodial services may addressed by calling the Custodial Office (860) 297-2327. To schedule custodial services for set-ups and cleaning contact the Calendar Office and Special Events Office (860) 297 – 2052.

The Electrical Shop is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the electrical distribution network and electrical equipment, transformers, power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, intrusion alarms and controls. The Electrical Shop is also responsible for obtaining special event electrical needs permits and electrical service needs such as the installation of additional service on a reimbursable basis.

The office of Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for the health and well-being of the faculty, staff, students and visitors at Trinity College, as well as the environment in which they work. The office of Environmental Health and Safety works with local, state and federal regulatory agencies including the City of Hartford, State of Connecticut,  the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on issues that affect the College and our community. Trinity College operates a comprehensive health and safety program which includes but is not limited to inspections, training, and hazard mitigation of asbestos, blood-borne pathogens, building, electrical and fire safety, environment issues, ergonomics, hazardous materials and waste, lead and radioactive materials. Trinity College utilizes the team approach for the identification and correction of hazardous conditions by working with health and safety committees, as well as the biological and chemical safety committees.

The Grounds Shop is responsible for campus grounds care, landscaping, snow removal, solid waste recycling, refuse disposal and private road, sidewalk and parking lot maintenance. The Grounds garage maintains the College's vehicles, mowers, loaders and other equipment. Grounds services for set-ups may be provided on a reimbursable basis.

The HVAC/Plumbing shop is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the mechanical distribution network and mechanical equipment, steam, gas, water, sewer, and plumbing systems, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. The Mechanical Shop also maintains and repairs of our heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
