HIGHLIGHTS: Reminding the 552 students who received their degrees on May 18, 2015, of the vast opportunities ahead of them, the Reverend James Morris Lawson, Jr., delivered an inspiring and uplifting Commencement address that called upon graduates to value the gift of life and the power it comes with. Lawson asked the 524 undergraduates and 28 master’s degree students, “to make your life count in every fashion possible” and to “use your life for things that make for good, for the things that make for beauty, for the things that make for mystery.” See a highlights video of the ceremony, as well as the full webcast, photos, and more.

Trinity Women’s Rowing Wins Varsity Eight National Title at NCAA Regatta
The Trinity College women’s rowing varsity-eight crew won its fourth national title and its second in a row in the NCAA Division III Championship Regatta on May 30 on Lake Natoma at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center. The Bantam varsity eight edged Bates by 3.21 seconds to take gold for the fourth time in the last 11 years and to earn 30 points for Trinity in the team standings. Read more.

   

Trinity Announces edX Partnership
Trinity College has joined with edX, one of the world’s leading online course platforms, to begin offering online courses to students around the world. Under the name of TrinityX, Trinity will host noncredit course content on two levels: as a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and as a Small Private Online Course (SPOC). Trinity already has two MOOCs open for enrollment, both of which will launch on October 19, 2015. Three additional MOOCs are in the works and slated to launch during the spring 2016 semester. You’ve never seen Trinity quite like this. A new video, Trinity in Motion, captures Trinity’s classic landmarks through a cutting-edge videography technique called “layer lapse” and syncs it to music by a recent alumnus. Research Fellows Make the Most of Symbiotic Relationship between Trinity and Hartford
It’s no secret that Trinity students learn from their surroundings every day; the College’s location in Hartford is a centerpiece of the Trinity experience. But through the Community Learning Initiative (CLI), students engage with the city in ways that make the most of that relationship for both sides, conducting research in partnership with local community organizations and educational institutions. Another Banner Year for Women’s Lacrosse
It was another banner year for the Trinity College women’s lacrosse team in 2015, as the Bantams returned to the NCAA Final Four and the National Championship game for the fourth straight season. Trinity finished the season with an impressive 21-2 overall record and a 9-1 mark in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. After ending the regular season as the No. 1 seed in the NESCAC Championship Tournament, the Bantams defeated Bowdoin 13-8 for their fifth straight league title. Read more.

   

Bantams Celebrate and Reconnect at Alumni Reunion
More than 1,000 alumni, families, and friends came from as far away as Hong Kong to reconnect with fellow Bantams during Alumni Reunion, which took place June 4-7. This year’s Reunion celebrated class years ending in 0s and 5s, and attendees enjoyed picture-perfect days throughout Trinity’s signature event. Read more and see photos.
