GREETINGS FROM THE PARENTS
Alexander P. Lynch P'03, '04, '07,
Trinity College Parents' Association, Co-President
Trustee of the College

As the parent of two recently minted Trinity graduates and a third who is currently a sophomore, my wife Sally and I are honored to be part of this ceremony and celebration.  On behalf of all Trinity parents, we extend our warmest welcome to you, President Jones.  Today, you formally assume a critically important position at this college and within our community which we often times affectionately refer to as the “Trinity family”.

I emphasize “family” because Trinity has been an important part of our family life now for several years.  During these influential years of our children’s education and development, we, as other parents have, entrusted our children to the care and guidance of those who lead and teach at this extraordinary institution.  As Parent Directors, Sally and I have reaped the rewards of our involvement in many aspects of the College and through this investment, we have gained deep and abiding respect and affection for Trinity.  We are delighted that its leadership will now be entrusted to a person of President Jones’s reputation, character and stature.

President Jones has a consistent message which emphasizes themes of respect, responsibility, and accountability, three essential core values for any family, whether you have one child, or 2000, as we have here at Trinity.  As President Jones begins to shape Trinity with his vision and leadership, we applaud his commitment to these noble virtues as one of the foundations of his presidency.

The extraordinary strengths of Trinity remain irrefutable.  Our dedicated faculty are accomplished in their fields and command our respect and our gratitude; our physical plant and location are both unique and magnificent; and Trinity has earned a formidable reputation as one of the finest liberal arts colleges in the country.  [Under the guidance of President Jones, I am sure that parents of all Trinity students will continue to feel confident and satisfied that their children have become part of a wonderful “extended family.”]

President Jones, it is with heartfelt enthusiasm that we welcome you to Trinity and to your presidency.  As parents, we stand ready to do everything we can to make your aspirations a reality and your time here a resounding success.  You have our enduring commitment, support, loyalty and confidence.  We offer you our congratulations and best wishes.
