Frederick Alford -Dean of Students

Frederick Alford was named Dean of Students at Trinity College in July 2003. Former dean of students at Union College, Schenectady, New York, and previously at Hawthorne College in Antrim, New Hampshire, he enjoys more than 20 years of experience in higher education and working with students.

As Trinity’s Dean of Students, Alford leads an office that provides academic support services to students, either through individual sessions or in larger workshops. The office additionally provides students with general counseling, including counseling that addresses personal problems. Additionally, the office works to ensure the observance of College regulations regarding student life. Known as an advocate and supporter of students and their intellectual and personal growth, Alford believes that the future of the College rests, to a great extent, in the hands of the students, and his encouragement of their efforts is influential in making this community stronger.

Alford earned his bachelors degree in psychology at Hawthorne College, a master’s degree in education from Antioch University and his doctorate in education from Harvard University.
