Vice President of College Advancement
Ron Joyce is the Vice President for College Advancement at Trinity College, Hartford, CT, a role he has held since early 2005. His responsibilities include Development, Alumni Affairs, Communications, and Special Events. He is also campaign director for the $300-million Cornerstone Campaign. He was previously Senior Vice President for Advancement at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
During his 38 years in advancement, Joyce has served in leadership roles in annual giving, planned giving, and campaign development, as well as marketing, communications, and public relations. His assignments have included vice presidencies at Colgate University, Bates College, and Albany (NY) Medical Center, as well as director of development at Grinnell College in Iowa.
Joyce has extensive knowledge in comprehensive campaigns, having been involved with nine separate campaigns, ranging from $30 million goals to $400 million goals. Trinity’s present campaigns, the Cornerstone and Legacy Campaigns, have $300 million and $60 million goals, respectively.
During Joyce’s tenure at Trinity, the College has been among the national leaders in alumni participation, including six consecutive years with a senior class gift reaching or exceeding 90 percent participation. The College has recorded historic highs in the Trinity Fund and its associated Parents Fund, and set new membership records for the Long Walk Societies. Trinity’s Advancement Program has been the recipient of four CASE Wealth Engine Awards for the performance of its fundraising team since 2005, while enjoying record numbers of alumni events worldwide, as well as the revitalization of its Web platform and its Calendar/Special Events platform, respectively, under the leadership of the directors of those respective areas.
Joyce has an undergraduate degree from Colgate University, after serving in the United States Marine Corp for three years. Joyce and his wife of 38 years have three grown children and two grandchildren.
