Trinity Welcomes Award-Winning Author to Campus

Kevin Young will Read as Part of A.K. Smith Series

The Trinity College English Department welcomes author Kevin Young as part of the ongoing Allan K. Smith Reading Series.  This event is free and open to the public.  A book signing and reception will follow. 

When: Thursday, October 22, 2009 ~ 4:30 p.m.  

Where: Rittenberg Lounge, Mather Hall on the campus on Trinity College

Background: Kevin Young is the author of six books of poetry, most recently Dear Darkness (Knopf, 2008), winner of the Southern Independent Bookseller’s Award, and Jelly Roll: A Blues (2003), a finalist for the National Book Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and winner of the Paterson Poetry Prize. He is the editor of four other volumes, including Everyman Pocket Poets’ Blues Poems and Jazz Poems and the Library of America’s John Berryman: Selected Poems; his anthology The Art of Losing: Poems of Grief and Healing is forthcoming next year. Young is Atticus Haygood Professor of Creative Writing and English and curator of Literary Collections and the Raymond Danowski Poetry Library at Emory University.
