Alone and Palely Loitering: Some Romantic Myths

What: Manu Chander will speak and answer questions as part of the Writers on Writing Series at Trinity College, in which Trinity faculty from various disciplines talk about their own writing process, answering questions both about themselves as writers and about writing in their fields. The writers talk about how they get their ideas, where they get feedback, how they got to be where they are now as writers, how they define good writing, and will field questions from the audience.  This event, sponsored by the A.K. Smith Center for Writing and Rhetoric and The Writing Associates Program, is free and open to the public.  Refreshments will be provided.

When: Wednesday, October 21, 2009 - 4:30PM

Where: The Writing Center on the campus on Trinity College
115 Vernon Street, Hartford, Conn. 06106

Background: Manu Samriti Chander, Visiting Professor of English at Trinity, received his B.A. in English from Wesleyan University (1999) and his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Michigan (2001), where he was awarded a Rackham Merit Fellowship and the Academy of American Poets Prize.  Chander received his Ph.D. in English Literature from Brown University in 2009.  Chander has taught at NYU, Barnard College, and, most recently, Harvard University.  He specializes in British Romanticism and postcolonial studies, and teaches courses on such topics as multiculturalism, art and controversy, and the craft of writing.
