What: The Shelby Cullom Davis Endowment at Trinity College welcomes economist Leszek Balcerowicz to campus for a lecture titled Developments after Communism. The audience is invited to join Balcerowicz for refreshments and informal discussions after the lecture. The event is free and open to the public.

Background:
Leszek Balcerowicz is a visiting fellow at the Watson Institute for International Studies at Brown University. He is an economist, a former Polish deputy prime minister and minister of France. He has also served as president of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), and professor of economics at the Warsaw School of Economics (WSE). He is the architect of Poland’s economic reforms initiated in 1989 and he has been at the center of Poland’s economic and political life since the fall of communism in Poland.
Balcerowicz holds a Ph.D. in economics from what is now the Warsaw School of Economics (WSE), where is also a professor and director of International Comparative Studies. He also holds an MBA from St. John’s University. He was also previously a chairman of Council of the Center for Social and Economic Research (CASE), based in Warsaw. Since 2006, he has been a corresponding Member of the History and Philosophy Class f the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences.
