Lisa Nestor, senior lecturer in chemistry, passed away on July 5 after a recurrence of cancer struck her in the spring.
With a B.A. from William and Mary, and a M.A. from Princeton, she came to Trinity in 1999 as a lecturer and taught laboratory sections of Introductory Chemistry. She was a strong advocate for a guided-inquiry approach to teaching chemistry, in which students use their own data to establish chemical principles. She was also involved in efforts to attract and maintain students to the study of chemistry, particularly students of color. An active member of the Dean of Students retention team, she was a major force in launching the Supplemental Instruction program at the College.
Lisa was loved and respected by her students and colleagues in the Chemistry Department. She will be sorely missed.
Information about memorial services will follow.
