Hartford, Conn., June 5—Dan Lloyd, Trinity College professor of philosophy, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to do research at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies, the Finnish national research center, during the 2007-2008 academic year, according to the United States Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
Dr. Lloyd will explore ways of interpreting the structure and function of the human brain. In particular, Lloyd, who also is a novelist, will search for evidence of narrative dynamic in networks of neurons and in patterns of brain activity.
Dr. Lloyd is one of about 800 U.S. faculty and professionals who will travel abroad through the Fulbright Scholar program. Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the program’s purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and rest of the world.
The Fulbright program, America’s flagship international educational exchange program, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
