Parmenter to talk on “Reaching the Top”
What: Trinity College head field hockey coach, assistant lacrosse coach, and Mount Everest conqueror, Anne Parmenter, will deliver the keynote address on “reaching the top,” at a luncheon devoted to women who are making their mark in the Greater Hartford business community. Parmenter, who began climbing at age 11 in her native England, reached the top of Mount Everest in 2006 after coming within four thousand feet of reaching the summit just two years earlier (Sports Illustrated story: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/sioncampus/08/08/everest.parmenter/index.html). Parmenter, who has coached at Trinity for eight years, raised a Trinity banner when she reached the peak.

Background: The Hartford Business Journal is honoring eight women in business, senior-level executives, CEOs and/or entrepreneurs, who have mastered their business. According to the Journal, these women are “remarkable, noteworthy, and admired in the business community.” Parmenter will talk about the value of persistence and setting high goals in life. “Everybody has their own Mount Everest,” she said. “It is important for people to know that they can reach their goals, no matter how insurmountable they may initially seem.”
