The 26-year-old to speak about his time as a child soldier in Sierra Leone
What: The Human Rights Program at Trinity College welcomes bestselling author and former child soldier, Ishmael Beah, to campus to speak about his experiences in Sierra Leone. A small group of students will have dinner with Beah before his talk, including some who participated in the Human Rights Winter Break Virtual Reading Group. President Jones is sponsoring the dinner.
Several Windsor High School students who read the book will also attend the event. Beah's book has been assigned in some courses at Windsor High and Trinity, including first-year seminars. The event will be followed by a reception and book signing. It is free and open to the public.

Ishmael Beah is the former child soldier and author of the critically acclaimed memoir, A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier, a New York Times bestseller in 2007 and one of the year’s top three non-fiction books by Time magazine.
